Llamas and Alpaca
Greetings from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. And no, you didn’t hit the wrong key and wind up on a site discussing ‘Camelids’! We actually added some new family members since the last Bits and Pieces and I thought I would show off our new additions. Yes, there they are to your left ~ two Llamas and an Alpaca. (We also added some baby goats ~ I’ll save them for next time!) The Llamas are Inambari (I am so jealous of those eyelashes!) and Characas (he’s the baby) and the Alpaca is Hildalgo ~ the one with the crazy hair-do. Why Llamas and an Alpaca? I don’t have the slightest clue! We had some extra pasture and decided we needed to fill it. (That is definitely a statement on our lives in general). We had heard that Llamas were nice animals and easy to raise, so we decided to look into adopting one (which then became two which then became three …). The Gal that we purchased them from has raised Llamas and Alpacas for over 20 years so we were also able to gain a lot of valuable information on their care. They love human contact so feeding time is a lot of fun. We are definitely enjoying them.

If you have recently gone through my site you may have noticed that there is now a new category in The Gallery section entitled Jewelry. I started making jewelry quite a few years ago. It was very different from what I am doing now ~ it actually was a pre-cursor to my doing Collage. I used beads, paint and paper together (and yes, it was quite wearable ~ just not in the shower!) I did a lot of layering which eventually led me in to my larger original collages. Those were much more three dimensional than what I do now. Interesting how things evolve.
